The UEFA Executive Committee appointed the Munich Football Arena as host of the 2028 UEFA Champions League final and Camp Nou as the venue for the 2029 decider during a meeting in Thessaloniki, Greece. UEFA announced the decisions on September 15, 2026, as part of a broader slate of final venues across its club competitions. The governing body had opened bidding for the 2028 and 2029 finals in July 2025.
Munich Football Arena previously staged the Champions League final in 2012 and 2025, according to UEFA records. The venue also hosted six matches at UEFA EURO 2024 along with the 2025 UEFA Nations League final. Its selection for 2028 comes as the only bid submitted for that year.
Camp Nou last hosted a Champions League final in 1999, when Manchester United came from behind to defeat Bayern Munich, UEFA historical data shows. The Barcelona stadium, which also welcomed the showpiece event in 1989, is undergoing renovation that will boost capacity to 105,000 seats. The 2029 final will take place one year before Spain co-hosts the 2030 World Cup.
Fifteen national associations had expressed interest in hosting the 2028 and 2029 finals of the Champions League, Europa League, Conference League and Women’s Champions League, a UEFA statement from October 2025 reported. England submitted a bid with Wembley Stadium for the 2029 Champions League final, yet the executive committee opted for Camp Nou. The process required final bid dossiers by June 2026 before appointments were confirmed.
UEFA also assigned additional venues in the same announcement. The 2028 Europa League final will be held at the National Arena in Bucharest while Belgrade’s National Stadium of Serbia was chosen for 2029. Juventus Stadium in Turin will host the 2028 Conference League final and Budapest’s Puskás Aréna the 2029 edition.
The Women’s Champions League final in 2028 is set for Parc Olympique Lyonnais in Lyon-Décines with the National Stadium of Wales in Cardiff selected for 2029, according to UEFA. The 2027 Super Cup will take place at the Johan Cruyff ArenA in Amsterdam and the 2028 edition at Astana Arena in Kazakhstan. A futsal finals venue was also named for 2027 in Switzerland.
