International Charity Organisation Reaches 600 Villages With 225,000 Iftar Meals in Ramadan

The International Charity Organisation announced on March 5, 2026, that it had delivered 225,000 iftar meals and over 16,000 food parcels to more than 600 villages across several Muslim countries in the first half of Ramadan this year while also targeting workers and low-income families in the UAE. The group said the initiative was carried out in coordination with authorities in beneficiary countries under a field monitoring system to ensure compliance and assess impact.

The International Charity Organisation said its Ramadan Iftar initiative reached more than 600 villages across several Muslim countries during the first half of the holy month, where it distributed 225,000 meals along with more than 16,000 food parcels. The effort was executed through coordinated mechanisms with authorities in those nations to comply with local regulations and standards, while a field monitoring system was used to evaluate the program’s performance and impact. The organisation added that the campaign had been expanded this year to benefit a larger number of recipients including those in the UAE.

Dr. Khaled Al Khaja, secretary-general of the International Charity Organisation, stated that the initiative reflects the UAE’s humanitarian approach and commitment to supporting people in need. Al Khaja expressed appreciation to donors whose contributions enabled the program’s success. He called for ongoing support to sustain the range of activities planned for the remainder of Ramadan and the year ahead. The secretary-general emphasised the role of such efforts in reaching vulnerable populations effectively.

The International Charity Organisation continues its Ramadan initiatives with Zakat distribution and Eid clothing support. It also provides urgent humanitarian aid. Development projects focusing on mosques, schools, homes, health centres and wells form another component of its work, according to the group’s statement. The organisation implements these through its established operational networks in multiple regions.

The International Charity Organisation was established in Ajman in 1984. Since then it has expanded its charitable activities both within the UAE and internationally, according to its own historical overview. In the first half of 2024 the organisation provided AED 25.6 million in financial support to more than 17,000 beneficiaries in the UAE, according to figures it released. This support included more than AED 6 million for 1,100 citizens and nearly AED 2 million for 22 local institutions.

Separate announcements from the International Charity Organisation indicate it distributes 7,500 iftar meals each day inside the UAE during Ramadan. The organisation has launched initiatives to support 60,000 orphans in the UAE and abroad during the holy month in past years. The National reported on these orphan support programs in March 2025.

The International Charity Organisation participated in UAE aid efforts to Gaza. It sent 51 tonnes of aid in one delivery in January 2026, according to WAM. Overall UAE humanitarian assistance to the Gaza Strip had reached approximately 110,000 tonnes by early 2026. This includes food, medical supplies and shelter materials, WAM figures show. The charity continues to engage in similar international relief operations.
