Trump added that from now on no US adversary can ever have a base in Greenland, have a military presence there or make sensitive investments without express written approval, describing the pact as having no expiry date and coming at no cost to the United States.
Denmark’s Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen confirmed that the three parties will sign the agreement next week on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly. Her office stated that the deal recognizes the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Greenland and Denmark while upholding the peoples’ right to self-determination, though it will still require parliamentary approval in both Copenhagen and Nuuk before full enforcement.
