Tulsa police carried out multiple security sweeps of the BOK Center including with bomb-sniffing dogs both before and after receiving an anonymous call on October 9 2026 warning that shots would be fired and bombs detonated at Ella Langley’s concert according to Captain Richard Meulenberg. The department found no credible threat during its searches and did not advise canceling the event Meulenberg said in a video posted to Facebook. Despite the all-clear from authorities the 27-year-old country star and venue officials decided to call off the performance at the 19,000-seat arena out of caution for attendees staff and her team.

Langley who has been riding high with her single Choosin’ Texas that set a new Billboard record announced the cancellation on Instagram under the advisement of local authorities the venue and her security team. “Due to a serious security threat involving the safety of my fans the venue staff and my team the incredibly difficult decision was made to cancel tonight’s show” Langley stated. She added “I know how much time travel money and planning goes into coming to a show and I can’t tell you how sorry I am” while stressing that fan safety would always come first and that the choice was not made lightly.

The BOK Center released its own statement emphasizing that the safety and well-being of everyone involved remained the absolute priority after which it determined the show could not proceed according to Billboard. Officials at the arena said details on ticket refunds for the sold-out performance would be shared as soon as possible. The concert had been part of Langley’s Dandelion Tour and was to feature special guests Kameron Marlowe and Laci Kaye Booth.

Meulenberg explained that the initial routine sweep had cleared the venue but a subsequent threatening call prompted a second comprehensive search with additional officers Reuters reported. He noted that the caller had disrupted the entire event for thousands of fans and that police believed there was no active danger at the time. Local outlets indicated that an investigation into the source of the call which some described as a possible swatting attempt continues.

Ella Langley leads nominations for the 2026 CMA Awards with nine nods tying a record for the most received by a female artist in a single year according to Billboard. Her album Dandelion debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 with 169,000 equivalent units while Choosin’ Texas spent 21 weeks atop the Hot 100 a mark that stands as the longest run for a non-holiday track in the chart’s history. She also secured dual nominations in single of the year for both Choosin’ Texas and Be Her a feat not achieved by any artist since 2010.

This episode occurs against a backdrop of rising swatting incidents targeting public events and institutions across the United States with the FBI documenting an increase in false reports that waste law enforcement resources and put people at risk according to Newsweek. The K-12 School Shooting Database recorded more than 800 such hoaxes at schools alone between January 2023 and June 2024 though the tactic has spread to concerts and other gatherings. Researchers attribute many of these calls to online harassment methods designed to trigger emergency responses without leaving clear traces.
