UK rapper Yung Filly took the witness stand in his own defence on July 27 2026 telling the Perth District Court that he fancied the complainant when she approached him at a concert venue in Hillarys. According to ABC News the performer whose real name is Andres Felipe Valencia Barrientos initially denied any physical contact in the VIP area at Bar1 before recalling that he placed his hand on her waist. He told the court that did not happen when asked about claims he put his hands down her pants or touched her breast and added that the vibes were good when the pair arrived at his hotel. His security guard had taken the young woman’s phone which he described as standard practice to ensure privacy.
The 30-year-old faces 10 charges including six counts of sexual penetration without consent three counts of assault occasioning bodily harm and one count of unlawful strangulation all of which he denies. The Guardian reported that the alleged offences occurred in a Perth hotel room following the September 2024 performance where the woman has testified the encounter began as consensual sex before turning violent. According to evidence presented to the court she described being slapped bitten choked and spat on while repeatedly saying no to further sexual activity.

Valencia Barrientos who performs as Yung Filly and maintains a large social media following as a YouTuber and musician was arrested in Brisbane and extradited to Perth to face the charges according to multiple Australian outlets including 10 News. He was granted bail and permitted to return to the UK for four months before returning for the trial which is being heard by Judge Linda Black in the Perth District Court. The Australian Broadcasting Corporation noted that a video emerged of the woman commenting positively on his touch hours before the alleged assault which the defence has used to challenge her account.
The trial has also heard that Valencia Barrientos admitted to reckless driving in Australia while on bail awaiting the rape case according to court records reported by News4Jax. That admission occurred in December 2024 several months after the initial charges were filed following the September concert.
