Real Madrid announced the signing of Yan Diomande from Germany’s RB Leipzig on August 6. In a statement the club confirmed it had reached an agreement with the Bundesliga side for the transfer of the 19-year-old Ivory Coast international who will sign a contract until 2033. Qatar News Agency reported that the move ties the winger to the Spanish giants for the next seven seasons.
Spanish media reported the total value of the transfer at around 140 million euros including bonuses equivalent to 161 million dollars. This sum breaks the previous club record for a single player according to Transfermarkt data on past deals. The fee also establishes a new mark for African football transfers surpassing earlier records for players from the continent.
Diomande joined Leipzig from Spanish club Leganes in the summer of 2025. During the 2025-26 Bundesliga season he scored 12 goals and provided eight assists while claiming the Best Young Player award Leipzig records show. The Ivory Coast international has earned 14 caps for his country scoring three goals in that time according to national team tallies.
This acquisition marks Real Madrid’s sixth signing in the current transfer window.
