Ukrainian drone strikes killed three people in Russia’s Tula region on June 15, 2026, according to local authorities who reported three additional injuries including to a one-year-old child. The drones targeted four villages on the western outskirts of Tula, damaging homes and businesses, Tula Governor Dmitry Milyayev said. Russia’s Defense Ministry reported intercepting 123 Ukrainian drones across multiple regions and annexed Crimea that night.
Milyayev said the injured were being treated and that the attack affected both residential and commercial structures. One of the locations, the village of Maslovo, has been associated in unconfirmed reports with a U.S.-sanctioned company involved in radio-electronic systems for military use. The governor’s update came as part of official notifications regarding the drone incursion.
Russia’s Defense Ministry rejected the assertion that it was responsible for the fire at the Lavra. The ministry stated that its strikes were limited to Ukrainian defense industry targets. It attributed the damage to an “outdated” American-made Patriot air-defense missile that Ukrainian forces had fired.
President Volodymyr Zelensky of Ukraine addressed the event directly on the social media platform X. Zelensky said the strike on the Lavra represented “an attack on the Christian community and on the cultural heritage of humanity.” He wrote, “There can be no justification for this or for any other similar Russian attacks,” adding that “more cooperation to stop Russia’s war and stronger protection to save lives” is urgently needed.
